The SS that should've been... Introducing the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado Single Cab 'Cateye' 454 LSX SS. The SS we all wanted but they never gave us.
The original 454 SS was produced from 1990-1993. It was one of the very first muscle trucks and featured a naturally aspirated 454 cubic inch V8 engine. Roughly 17,000 of these trucks were produced with roughly 80% of this being in 1990. To this day the 454 SS remains one of the most highly sought after trucks ever produced. In 2003 Chevrolet released its new iteration of the iconic SS as an extended cab equipped with a fuel injected 6.0L (366 Cubic Inches) motor cranking out 345 horsepower and 380 ft-lb of torque. It came standard in 2003-2004 with 4WD. This was also an option in 2005 and was discontinued for 2006. This version of the SS has also become extremely desirable over the years. In 2010 Chevrolet released the LSX 454. A fuel injected animal with a cast iron LSX block cranking out 627 HP and 586 ft-lb of torque. Since the inception of the LSX 454 it was our dream to put together the 2006 SS we wanted to see from Chevrolet. Although we haven't been able to put together the 1:1 version...at least not yet. The 1:64 versions will have to do for now..
